Olympic sized sell-out.

Written by Ren West on August 12th, 2004

“Athens 2004″ has warned spectators that they will not be allowed to drink, eat or wear products by companies that chose not to sponsor the Olympic games. High on the list of banned substances is Pepsi and their product line. Want to buy a ticket? Hope you got a Visa, cause they don’t take American Express in Athens.

It is suggested that they’re worried about “ambush marketing”, and having non-sponsored images displayed on television. Let’s see, I think its safe to assume that a great majority of TV viewers are going to be North American based. Being North American, I’m not allowed to watch the Games live, I have to watch re-runs as dictated by my national monopolistic television network. Here’s a thought, take all that horribly intrusive technology you brag about to marketing demons, and block out that guys Pepsi bottle. Or better yet, replace it with a coke bottle, and charge Coca-Cola for the effort! It’s marketing genius! You’ll have to buy another room to pile your money in, and Coke will get the influence it needs to turn another healthy child into a fat, lazy adult! Its what the Olympics are all about after all.
