Why do stores like Future Shop have employees? I recently decided that getting one of those all-in-one printer/scanner/copier deals would be a good thing, so did some quick reading and found a great sale at FS for an Epson model. I head over there to see what else is there and was confronted by a Biscuit. He asked if I was going to be printing just text, or if I was going to use a digital camera in the mix as well. I reply with a “Yes”, and immediatly he suggests I should get a Canon instead. Alright, Canon makes some quality stuff, so I amuse him for a while. Here are his main points:
1. Canon is of better quality, it has a higher dpi than the Epson model I was looking at.
2. Canon uses 4 individual ink cartridges, the Epson doesn’t.
3. The Canon was easier to use.
So, one, the Epson plainly had a higher dpi than the Canon. Was even printed on their own price stickers. Two, the Canon doesn’t have 4 indiviual ink cartridges, and the Epson does. And three, he couldn’t even open the lid on the Canon, while the Epson had obvious hand holds with which to use.
Having a good laugh, I ask about the mail-in rebates that were listed online, of which there were 2. He looked on his “official” computer and said there was only one. Fine, I’ll deal with that later, and decide to get it. After I give him my debit card, his receipt printer spits out 20′ of paper. Turns out, there are indeed 2 mail-in rebates for this printer. Fancy that. All said and done, he mentions I should get a USB cable too, since no printers come with them. I say I have one at home and don’t need his $30 cable. Yah, the printer comes with one.
