DVD burner leads to new motherboard

Finally got around to purchasing a DVD burner the other day. To make a long story short, I now have to replace my motherboard (at least I hope that’s my problem) since it no longer powers on. For those curious, the BenQ DVD burner DW1620 does NOT work well with nForce based systems if your using Nvidia IDE drivers (and why wouldn’t you be?). You have to use either the MS IDE drivers for flash the drive with a new firmware, which is a Windows application…

UPDATE:
Well, it turns out I don’t really know what I’m doing with computers, and should just find a new line of work. Originally thinking I blew up my power supply, I replaced it, only to have my system still not work. So, just before I pushed “Submit” on my cart for a new motherboard (be damned if I’m waiting 4 weeks for the RMA process), I opted to try the old “clear the CMOS” trick. Too dumb for my own well being sometimes.
