Thanks for the review. I've looking for info on the availability full internet browsing. I'm very disappointed that it isn't there... This was a nice bonus that set kindle above the competition for me. Now, I'll have another look at the eReader.

The letters are the id of the backend newsfeed server (would change during development), and the numbers are (probably) something like the time in ms took to generate the feed.

Looks like some kind of debugging print statement.

SO could mean anything. Server Offset? Sort Order? Could be the number of milliseconds one particular query took to run.

Hah, I saw that too and I wish I had my camera. I'm thinking either
a) Disgruntled employee and an employer who doesn't speak English properly or,
b) A marketing ploy.

... Because there's NO WAY that's an accident. (or should I say "sexident"?)

The advantage for me is that I get to use a decent router, rather than the SMC junk Rogers provides, plus it's gigabit, acting as my internal switch. With two routers like this, you get a double NAT going on which can cause problems, but I haven't run into any yet. Heck, I even get my VMware OSs online without any trouble at all.

It sounds like you could do the same as I just did and put your WRT54G in the DMZ (if your router supports that) and let it handle everything from there.

Is there any drawback to using a second router internally?

I have a 24 port GB switch handling the internal duties, and the router (currently something made by Thompson that Teksavvy sold me) doing the routing duties. I do have a second router (the WRT54G), but it's offline now.

Since I'm now cap-free, I'm going to start getting stuff via torrents, so I'm going to need to get some hot MLPPP action going to avoid Bell's bullshit. The WRT54G is a prime host for custom firmware -- I should be able to just passthrough everything to it, and have it do the duties, without any issue, right?

re: the USB charging stuff, I had mixed luck trying that. I was actually doing it for the car -- iPod, cell phone, DS, etc. Just leave one cigarette-lighter-to-USB adapter plugged in, and swap USB cabless. easier and less bulk.

Some of the off-brand ones I bought at radio shack simply didn't work. I got this one that looked like it was ideal -- it had chargers for the DS, PSP, iPod and mini-USB. But the iPod one didn't actually work to charge the iPod? and when plugged into the DS, it was too short to put the DS anywhere useful with it plugged in.

for one in-home, the real challenge is just making something attractive that can hold your devices and hiding the cables. if the set of cables is fixed, you can just bundle them with heat wrap and hide everything else under the desk or in a drawer or whatever.
