I`ll spare you the gory emotional challenge details and leave you with the pleasure part. I checked the Clear Sky Clock to see what the cloud coverage and transparency was like. Wasn’t the greatest, but usable. It was also about 30 minutes before the 11:36pm moon rise, since I was a couple days past the full moon. Then, checking The Photographer’s Ephemeris, I noticed the moon was coming up directly over a lake that I could actually access without any trouble. Drove with both hands on the wheel along highway 60 at night and parked as far off the road as I could and setup shop down at the waters edge. Since I could see the moon light already starting, I opted to just shoot a longer than normal frame and hope to catch the actual moon coming up. I started with a 12 minute exposure at f4.5, wanting to get some nice star trails in the shot as well. I was quite pleased with the results. Hope you are too.

One site pointed me to photographer Sandra Freeman, whose collection of simple flower photos is just amazing. Apparently created using nothing more than a window and black cloth or foam core board. Great stuff. Inspiring indeed.

Thankfully, none of them make me want to give up my *istDS. :) However, Nikon has implemented a very interesting feature. They’ve put WIFI in the new P1 and P2 digicams. The thought of just pressing a button on the camera to transfer my photos to my computer intrigues me (I have no idea if that’s how it will work or not), but at the same time, the thought of my neighbour pressing a button and transferring all the photos from my camera to *her* computer frightens me.

The photographer in me loves this. The SysAdmin in me is scared and a little annoyed. How many times has WIFI been proven insecure now?
